Workshops for Businessmen

Between the end of 2005 and the beginning of 2006, three awareness-raising workshops were organized by sub-region (Maghreb, Mashreq, and Isreal and Turkey) for the business communities of the 10 MEDA Countries, in order to sensitize them to the importance of alternative dispute resolution in the lowering of obstacles to the development of regional and inter-regional trade.

The duration of each workshop was two days, and they were held in succession to the workshops for jurists. This permitted project experts to assist in the delivery of materials to both groups, businessmen and jurists, enhancing interaction with participants. The workshops targeted leading entrepreneurs and representatives of a range of organizations such as Chambers of Commerce and SME federations. Speakers included not only specialists in dispute management, but also EU businessmen and members of the SME business and legal communities from each country in the sub-region.
