Country Studies

The Country Legal Experts (CLEs), in collaboration with Ms. Penelope Harley, Training and Dissemination Expert, have conducted studies on the current status of International Commercial Arbitration and Conviliation in their respective countries for each of the 10 MEDA Project countries. As a result of their research, they have composed "Country Chapters" describe the different legal frameworks for national and international mediation proceedings, the role of courts in arbitral proceedings, and local practices with regard to arbitration and mediation or conciliation. In addition, each Country Chapter provides a list of ADR providers in each of the MEDA countries, which together constitute the ADR MEDA network.

The Country Chapters are available on this website in English, French, and Arabic, and will serve both as a practical guide to the users of commercial dispute settlement services in the MEDA region and also as invaluable reference material for people from the region who are interested in obtaining skills or training in mediation/arbitration.

The Country Chapters can be found in the Library, or by clicking here.
