Elena Ciancio received her degree in Political Science-International Political Studies-from the University of Rome "La Sapienza" with a final dissertation titled The Decision-Making Power in International Organizations. She then completed a post-graduated course of specialization in International Affairs offered by the Italian Society for International Organization.
Since 2001, Elena Ciancio has worked as International Projects Specialist and International Training Specialist at ADR Center SpA (www.adrcenter.com). She is responsible for the management and coordination of international projects and the planning, organization, and implementation of numerous training courses, summer schools, seminars, and workshops on negotiation and ADR. For example, from 2003-2005, Ms. Ciancio served as the European coordinator of the summer course Making and Saving Deals in the Global Business Environment: Negotiating Business Transactions and Mediating Business Disputes Internationally, annually organized and administered jointly by ADR Center, the University of Rome "La Sapienza," and the Dispute Resolution Institute at Hamline University School of Law (USA) (www.makingandsavingdeals.com).
Currently, Elena Ciancio is Training and Dissemination Expert for Promotion of International Commercial Arbitration and other Alternative Dispute Resolution Techniques in MEDA Countries, replacing former Training Expert Penelope Harley as of April 15, 2006. She has been involved with all phases of the project, first working on the tender procedure and then assisting the Team Leader during the implementation phase by developing and managing the project activities. In addition, Ms. Ciancio worked closely with Ms. Harley in order to develop the project's awareness-raising workshops, by drafting enrolment forms and program agendas, selecting participants, preparing materials, organizing in-class exercises and simulations, and assisting the trainers during their execution.
