The workshop International Business Dispute Resolution – A View From Europe and its Increasing Relevance for the Business Communities of Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and West Bank & Gaza, was held at the Beirut Chamber of Commerce on May 9-10, 2006. It was attended by 40 prominent representatives of the commercial sector from Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, and West Bank & Gaza.
The keynote speaker of the workshop was Prof. Giuseppe De Palo (President, ADR Center), and the introductory and opening sessions were conducted by Mr. Ghazi Koraïtem (President, Chamber of Commerce of Beirut) and Prof. Muhieddine Kaïssi (Secretary General, Arbitration Center, Chamber of Commerce of Beirut), respectively.
Participants of the workshop demonstrated enthusiasm for their experience, deeming the initiative "a great success." During the debate that followed, several participants provided practical suggestions to refine the use of arbitration and ADR procedures in their own countries.
