Morocco (Rabat)

The workshop for businessmen from the Mahgreb countries-Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia-was held in Rabat on December 5-6, 2005. The workshop was conducted entirely in French, and was attended by 22 participants.

Keynote speakers of the workshop were Ms. Sophie Henry, CMAP Secretary General and consortium representative, joined by Prof. Giuseppe De Palo, Project ADR Expert and ADR Center President, and former Team Leader Gilles Blanchi.

The program was divided into three sessions. The first session concerned mediation, and focused on this dispute resolution technique as a useful instrument for small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The second session was dedicated to the general methods of alternative dispute resolution with regard to business disputes between commercial enterprises. During the third session, the arbitration rules of the International Commercial Court (ICC) were treated in detail.

At the conclusion of the workshop, the attendees proposed the assembly of a regional association aimed at promoting ADR in the Maghreb region. All volunteered to assist the Project Team in implementing the project and disseminating information in the three countries.
