Rome Conference

The crowning event of the ADR MEDA project will be a major international conference. The conference will convene in Rome, Italy, on September 28-29, 2007. The theme of the conference is Preventing and Managing International Commercial Disputes in the Mediterranean: Towards a EuroMed Alternative Dispute Resolution Infrastructure. The goals for the conference are simple, but bold: to raise awareness of the diverse global interests of the MEDA and EU countries with regard to trade, investment, and ADR, and to strengthen the ADR movement nationally and internationally.

The conference will be a unique opportunity for members of the international business and legal communities to join together with politicians and government officials to share experiences and ideas. Representatives from the 27 EU member states will participate alongside representatives from the 10 MEDA countries. During the first day of the conference, mediation, arbitration, and other ADR issues will be discussed by field experts in tailored sessions. This will be followed by a half-day dedicated to the pertinent issues in business and trade with regard to ADR. On the second day of the conference, a forum titled Dispute Resolution Institutions and designed for representatives from ADR institutions will take place. Official findings will be presented at the end of the day.
