Three concurrent morning tracks will cover the theoretical underpinning and practical implications of consensual dispute resolution processes, specifically mediation, in international commerce. Particular attention will be given to the business to business sector, and the methods that may be applied in order to realize the benefits of effective and efficient dispute resolution mechanisms. Participants will pre-select their preferred track.

Special attention will be devoted to: 1) the degree of appropriate government intervention, 2) the role of judges as mediators or as advocates of external mediation to litigants, and 3) the role of lawyers as problem-solvers, beyond litigation.

The first part of the afternoon will focus on the interplay between domestic and international legislation in defining the legal regime for commercial arbitration.
