The trainings on international contracts and dispute resolution are aimed at creating a group of highly specialized mediators and arbitrators who will increase the availability of specialized services. The intensive training workshop Training for International Commercial Mediators and Arbitrators is geared toward local business lawyers of the MEDA countries. The participants are carefully selected and must complete a questionnaire designed to assess such factors as basic knowledge of the subject matter, level of knowledge of the English/French language, and motivation to become a mediator/arbitrator.
Each training consists of a three-day session (with the exception of the training in Istanbul, the duration of which was four days) comprising overviews of mediation (2 and a half days) and arbitration (a half day). The tutorials are highly interactive, and include simulations, exercises and role-plays. Particular attention is paid to the need for cross-cultural sensitivity in international dispute resolution. The training will conclude with an examination, and participants who successfully complete the examination will have the opportunity to be included in a roster of ADR providers composing the EU/MEDA network. All participants will receive a certificate of participation.
In order to reach the maximum number of professionals, educational activities will continue online through programs on the e-learning platform.
