Turkey (Istanbul)
This first awareness-raising workshop, Preventing and Resolving Commercial Disputes Efficiently – Current European Practices and Their Increasing Relevance for Businesses of Turkey and Israel, was held in Istanbul on November 21-22, 2005, for 14 select representatives of the Israeli and Turkish business communities.
The keynote speaker was Prof. Giuseppe De Palo (Project ADR Expert and ADR Center President). Professor Ergun Ozsunay, arbitration expert and consultant to the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce Arbitration Center, gave a presentation describing the current state of arbitration in Turkey, and Yoram Orgad, Director of the Tel-Aviv Small Business Development Centre, similarly dissected the status and recent developments in Israel.
Former Team Leader Gilles Blanchi and Prof. De Palo facilitated workshop dialogue and initiated the formulation of an action plan by the participants for the further promotion of arbitration and other ADR techniques in both countries during the concluding Round Table Discussion.
